Care Fund
In the fall of 2020 our team decided to start putting 1% of top line revenue into a savings account and call it our “Care Fund”.
I was reluctant to write about this here on our blog because sometimes writing and talking about stuff like this feels like we are just doing this for attention and tooting our own horn.
But then I think about what we are called to do as followers of Jesus, namely, to show the world the Love of Christ.
When I thought of it that way, of course I wanted to share this cool story that our team was able to be a part of because of the step we made to be a good steward of our resources.
Donovan (Lead Software Engineer @Shed Suite) is from North Carolina and is currently working in Medellin, Colombia. He and his girlfriend heard about a situation that a mom was in where her husband had run up a large debt and left her with the children and the debt.
To us, the amount of the debt was trivial, but, to her, it was insurmountable. With her salary, it was going to take her many years to pay off and millions of pesos in interest.
Through Donovan’s girlfriend, we were able to send funds directly to this mom’s creditor and pay her debt for her.
She even wrote us this little thank you letter!
Thank you very much for giving me this wonderful support. This will allow me to free myself from this crippling debt. This $ 10,000,000 credit line had increased to the exorbitant figure of $ 19,226,601.
I am very grateful for the support that you and God have given me.
We are so excited about all the stories to come as we use the Care Fund to show Jesus to the world one story at a time.
